This is my inaugural blog (fireworks and drumroll provided at viewers own discretion – grin). I’m joining the chorus of voices on the web engaging, creating, playing. Or for the more cynical – I’ve jumped on the band-wagon ’cause it looks pretty cool, and we all want to be part of the “in” crowd don’t we?
This journey is a new adventure for me. I’ve done Zines in the early 90’s and even now help my community with its web sites, each jouney I embarked upon sliding merrily along a very steep learning curve. So I beg your indulgence whilst I find my feet on this new land, and tune my voice so that it just a little out of sync with the chorus of millions – at least enough so that you’ll know its me, and perhaps be intrigued enough to come sit at my table, have a drink of (insert favorite beverage here) with myself and whoever else may gather with me on this, my little plot of blog-land (not to be confused with bog land, which I dare say is rather murky, and stains your clothes), to play, create, and engage.
Play, create, and engage with what you ask? And I’m glad you did too! With things Old & Independent Catholic – with theology, and with Christianity generally. This is and as been for more than 10 years my passion, a passion I share with many far flung folk. I’ve grown up in my Christian faith in the OC/IC community. I know we have our fair share of nutters, and folks we really wish would quietly, and in full ecclesiastical drag, “liturgically” fall off a romantic precipice somehwere, but we also have a wealth of wonderful, committed, spirit filled, people. Not all of whom I agree with (indeed there are quite a few of this group who I proudly call “friend”), but nearly all of whom I respect. Moreover, it is (and has been) my contention for some time that these folks (and I’d like to include myself in this group) have been too quiet for too long! So I’m going to play, create, and urge engagement here, and hope that you will join in the fun. I don’t expect that everytyhing I post will be popular, but if it encourages the building of relationships with other Christians both in and not yet in the OC/IC community, then I’ll think of this adventure in blog-land gardening a fruitful success.
