In a recent comment Chris Tessone righly called me out – and now I’ve got to face the music and talk about the elephant in the room (lurking in many of my posts going all the way back to the beginning) – that is my own thinking on why I am . . . “bothered” . . . “uncomfortable” . . . I guess they’ll work. . .about ordained people in the indie community being as Chris put it half in and half out of the movement.

I’m going to focus on ordained ministers for a very particular set of reasons which will become apparent in future posts.

I realise from the start that this is a controversial issue within the community. Nevertheless I do believe it is one that deserves to be debated and explored – as it can only help us to better understand our movement and its motivations better.

In this light, and taking some lessons from recent posts where I was not as focussed as I ought to have been (thank you onionboy, thank you Graeme) I’m going to map this “elephant” out into multiple installments, and ask that you help me by commenting on the content of a given section at a time (I’m a theologian – I love tangents, I’m sure there is therapy for this, but . . .) knowing that there will be at least four separate installments (possibly six).
